Hobbies

TA metal detector should not be bought solely on the suggestion of one person (no matter how good a friend). If you are new to the hobby, you should realize that long time detector users can be very committed to the particular model and brand of detector that they have been using. They are generally unfamiliar with anything newer or different.

If you were one person who loves adventure in the form of treasure hunting, then a metal detector would be one of your necessary equipments.

There are many different kinds and styles of metal detectors - gold detectors, coin and jewel detectors, beach-hunting detectors, underwater metal detectors, handheld and walk through metal detectors

Metal detectors are electronic devices that are used to find traces of metal usually from the ground, a person, or cargo. This metal could be anything from discarded pieces of aluminum to buried treasures. These devices can penetrate sand, soil, wood and other non-metallic substances.

Tidbits on metal detecting

Isn't it fun to discover hidden metal objects? In this article you will find information on how you can find pieces of metal in places you might never have thought they might be. You don't have to excavate your entire lot just to end up with a single piece coin with little or no value. What you can do for hassle free 'treasure hunting' is get a metal detector and learn to use it.

First thing you can do is join a club or a group that focuses on metal detecting. You can get input, ideas and even learn from their past mistakes by chatting with such a group. You will be able to gain many things from other people and maybe even be able to share your own experiences in the future with other rookies. Try searching online for these groups.

Second thing you need to remember is that there will always be "snoops" around. Walking around with a weird contraption that makes weird noises will really catch other people's attention. What you can do is do your metal detecting in the early hours of the morning or at a time when there are fewer people around the area you want to look to search. If you like rain you can even search while it's raining.

Remember, the higher the coil is above the surface the more depth you will lose. If they've got a old coin that is 6 in. below the surface, and your detector can detect 8 in., and the coil is 3 in. above the ground, you will miss that target. If the coil had been directly upon the ground you would be able to detect that target.

As with other electronic equipments, innovations seems to always happen overnight. If you are going to buy a metal detector today, try to know that technologies are currently employed. You do not want to be behind the technology line, right?
